On the ninth day of Navratri, devotees worship Goddess Siddhidatri, the ninth and final manifestation of Maa Durga. She is revered as the grantor of siddhis (supernatural powers) and divine wisdom. Siddhidatri embodies completeness, spiritual fulfillment, and divine grace. Her worship signifies the attainment of ultimate realization, where devotion, knowledge, and power come together to lead the devotee toward liberation.
Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped on Navami, the ninth day of Navratri. Her name is derived from “Siddhi” (perfection, spiritual power) and “Datri” (giver or bestower), meaning the Goddess who grants siddhis and boons. She is often depicted seated gracefully on a lotus or lion, radiating divine brilliance. With four hands, she holds a discus (chakra), conch shell (shankha), lotus, and mace (gada), symbolizing her control over creation, preservation, destruction, and blessings.
She is the guiding force of spiritual evolution, worshipped by both devas, rishis, and yogis. Even Lord Shiva attained perfection by worshipping Goddess Siddhidatri, which is why she is often called the Supreme Mother of Powers.
Source of the Siddhis- According to the Devi Purana, Siddhidatri manifested during the creation of the universe to bestow siddhis upon the gods, sages, and humans. She is said to bless her devotees with eight primary siddhis:
Anima Siddhi (अणिमा सिद्धि)- The ability to reduce one’s body to the smallest possible size, even smaller than an atom. Symbolically, it represents humility, subtle perception, and the power to enter even the tiniest realms of consciousness.
Mahima Siddhi (महिमा सिद्धि)- The power to expand infinitely in size and magnitude, becoming larger than the largest. Spiritually, it signifies expansion of consciousness, realizing the vastness of the soul beyond physical limits.
Garima Siddhi (गरिमा सिद्धि)- The ability to become infinitely heavy, immovable by any force. Symbolically, it represents stability, grounding, and the unshakable strength of divine truth.
Laghima Siddhi (लघिमा सिद्धि)- The power to become weightless or lighter than the lightest substance. It reflects freedom from material burdens, detachment from worldly ties, and rising above physical limitations.
Prapti Siddhi (प्राप्ति सिद्धि)- The ability to attain or acquire anything desired, whether physical, mental, or spiritual. Spiritually, it signifies the realization of divine will, where nothing is beyond reach for a pure devotee.
Prakamya Siddhi (प्राकाम्य सिद्धि)- The power to manifest desires and make them come true without obstruction. It represents the alignment of personal will with divine will, where wishes naturally materialize.
Ishita Siddhi (ईषिता सिद्धि)- The ability to exercise absolute lordship and authority over nature, elements, and life forces. It reflects mastery over creation, symbolizing divine rulership and supreme command.
Vashita Siddhi (वशिता सिद्धि)- The power to control and influence natural forces, people, and circumstances. On a spiritual level, it means mastery over desires, senses, and worldly temptations, ensuring inner discipline and balance.
Apart from these, she also grants ten secondary siddhis, making her the ultimate source of all divine and mystical powers.
Shiva as Ardhanarishvara- One of the most profound legends is that Lord Shiva himself attained completeness through her blessings. When Goddess Siddhidatri bestowed her grace, Shiva became Ardhanarishvara, half-male and half-female, symbolizing balance, wholeness, and the union of energies. Thus, she is regarded as the supreme divine energy that fulfills the spiritual journey of devotees.
As the ninth form of Navadurga, Goddess Siddhidatri represents divine perfection and completeness. She symbolizes the highest stage of spiritual realization, where the soul rises beyond material desires and merges with the ultimate truth. Her energy teaches that life’s true purpose lies not in wealth or power, but in inner mastery and detachment. She reminds devotees that real strength comes from wisdom, purity, and control over the senses. By worshipping her, seekers are guided toward liberation, harmony, and eternal peace.
In Vedic astrology, Goddess Siddhidatri is associated with Ketu, the planet of spirituality, detachment, and enlightenment.
