Energies All Around : How Vastu and Jyotish Shifted My Perspective
By Shivani chauhan

I’ll admit it—I never thought I’d be the kind of person who talks about vastu doshas or planetary remedies. To me, all that sounded like something straight out of my grandmother’s stories, not something a modern person like me would ever care about. But life has a funny way of surprising you, doesn’t it?
Over the past year, I’ve found myself becoming more open to ideas I once brushed off. Vastu and jyotish aren’t about magic or superstition to me anymore—they feel like ancient wisdom gently nudging us to align with the world around us.
Vastu: When Your House Feels “Heavy”
We all know that feeling—when a home feels “off” somehow. You can’t explain it, but it feels cluttered even when it’s clean. That’s when someone first suggested to me, “Maybe it’s a vastu issue.”
At first, I laughed. Could the direction of my kitchen really affect my mood? But just for fun, I tried a few small remedies:
I kept a small tulsi plant near the entrance. They say it attracts positive energy. And to be honest, even if it didn’t, the fresh green leaves made me smile every time I walked in.
I started using rock salt in my cleaning water once a week. My mother told me it removes stagnant energy. Placebo or not, my house felt fresher.
I covered the big mirror in my bedroom that faced the bed (a vastu no-no). Sleep felt deeper after that. Coincidence? Maybe. But I wasn’t complaining.
The interesting thing about vastu is that it’s not just about superstition. At its core, it’s about how energy flows through a space. If nothing else, it taught me to pay attention to my surroundings and create a home that feels nourishing.
 Jyotish Remedies: Planets or Placebo?
If vastu was about the space outside me, jyotish felt like it was about the space inside. I used to think astrology was all about predicting my future (which I was never interested in). But a good astrologer friend explained it differently: “Jyotish isn’t about fate. It’s about patterns and tendencies. And sometimes, small remedies help rebalance things.”
Here are a few jyotish remedies I tried:
-     Wearing a moonstone ring for emotional balance. I don’t know if the planet Moon felt happier, but I started feeling calmer in stressful situations.
-     Feeding birds on Saturdays. This one was suggested for reducing Saturn’s heavy energy. It became such a peaceful ritual that I started looking forward to it every week.
-    Chanting a simple mantra every morning. Not because I believed planets needed pleasing, but because it grounded me.
Were these remedies changing my destiny? Probably not. But they were changing me. They became small, mindful habits that brought a sense of order and comfort.
 So…Do They Really Work?
Here’s my honest take: vastu and jyotish aren’t magic wands. You can’t place a mirror or wear a gemstone and expect life to transform overnight. But they do remind you of something important—that your environment and your inner state are connected.
Sometimes, these remedies work because they shift you. You clean your house with more intention. You step out to feed the birds and reconnect with nature. You chant a mantra and slow down your racing mind.
And isn’t that what we all need in this noisy, fast-paced world?
Take What Resonates, Leave the Rest
I’m not here to convince anyone to follow vastu or jyotish. I still don’t believe in doing anything blindly. But I’ve learned to stay open. If a remedy feels right and brings you peace, why not try it? At worst, you’ll develop a few calming rituals. At best, you might discover a beautiful connection between the ancient and the m
In the end, it’s not about energies “out there.” It’s about the enerodern.gy within you.
